Student life
As a CalArts student, you’ll belong to an active community of artists with access to a campus that is open 24-hours, seven days a week. During the school year, CalArts students have opportunities to perform or exhibit in numerous galleries and theater spaces on campus. They may enrich their learning experience through both formal and informal student life programs. Residence halls, rehearsal and performance spaces, computer labs, studios, galleries and campus grounds are often gathering places for organized and casual interactions.
Staff and faculty serve as advisors and mentors for student activities outside the classroom, encouraging leadership development and helping to build a sense of community. Staff specializing in learning disabilities, personal counseling and other student concerns also are available to help ensure student success. Staff and programs assist students in making a successful adjustment to college. Staff members can guide students in developing independence and self-direction toward their professional and personal goals, and are available to help students resolve personal and academic difficulties.
The Office of Student Affairs provides a variety of support services including career services, housing referrals, peer tutoring, special events and activities, and student sponsored clubs and organizations. Student Affairs also offers assistance to students with disabilities and addresses issues pertaining to student rights and responsibilities.
