Programs
The School of Art offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of Art, Graphic Design, and Photography and Media, as well as a graduate Integrated Media Program. The undergraduate programs lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree and the graduate programs to a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.
Prospective students are invited to apply to one of the following:
Program in Art [1] (BFA, MFA)
Program in Graphic Design [2] (BFA, MFA)
Program in Photography and Media [3] (BFA, MFA)
Integrated Media Program in Art [4] (MFA only)
Integrated Media Program in Photography and Media [4] (MFA only)
Coursework for these programs is drawn from more than 80 classes offered by the School of Art each semester. BFA students are further required to take general education courses in the School of Critical Studies while MFA students in the Integrated Media Program must enroll in Integrated Media (IM) classes every semester. School of Art students also take advantage of numerous elective courses throughout CalArts-in the schools of Critical Studies, Dance, Film/Video, Music and Theater.
In order to graduate, students must complete all program and course requirements and pass regular faculty reviews of their artistic and academic progress.
