Pulitzer Prize winner and distinguished New York Review of Books contributor Thomas Powers elaborates on the current state of the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations in a special event presented in conjunction with the exhibition 9 Scripts from a Nation at War. In a conversation introduced and moderated by James Wiltgen and Martín Plot, Powers also talks about the influence that those and other international conflicts are sure to have in shaping the policies of the incoming U.S. administration. Powers won the Pulitzer Prize in 1971 for his reporting on Diana Oughton, a member of the Weatherman organization, and is the author of The Military Error: Baghdad and Beyond in America's War of Choice (2008), Intelligence Wars: American Secret History from Hitler to Al-Qaeda (2002), the novel The Confirmation (2000), Heisenberg's War: The Secret History of the German Bomb (1993), and The Man Who Kept the Secrets: Richard Helms and the CIA (1979). He has also contributed to The Nation, Harper's, Rolling Stone and The Atlantic.
