Film Directing Faculty for Master Class in Film Directing
School of Film/Video

This is a half time nine month faculty position in the School of Film/Video, Film Directing Program beginning September 2009. The Film Directing Program is a small, innovative, culturally diverse graduate program in narrative film directing with a low faculty to studio ratio. Individual mentoring is a crucial component of the program.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be filmmakers of national or international stature. The Master Class exemplifies the art of filmmaking at a high level of sophistication and maturity.  This candidate will have significant teaching experience and an ability to work with a diverse range of students whose filmmaking encompasses a wide range of classical and experimental narrative styles. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished director able to work with students in individual mentoring sessions as well as to lead a master class that pushes advanced students to clarify and perfect their directing. The candidate will be well-versed in 35mm and 16mm filmmaking, digital production and post-production and will have a wide-ranging knowledge of film history and theory.

Duties

Duties include teaching a Master Class in Film Directing as well as another course to be determined.   This position requires academic and artistic mentorship to several students. Other duties include being a member of thesis review committees as well as participating in departmental matters.
